„Man of the world“ je pesma koju je snimila grupa Fleetwood Mac. Objavljena je na singlu izdatom 1969. godine.

To je jedna od najlepših pesma koju je komponovao Peter Green (29.10.1946.-25.07.2020.), pevač i gitarista grupe. On je autor i mnogih drugih poznatih pesama grupe Fleetwood Mac: „Black magic woman“, „Oh well“, „I loved another woman“, „Looking for somebody“, „Closing my eyes“, „Rattlesnake shake“, „Merry go round“, „The green manalishi (With the two prong crown)“, kao i predivnog instrumentala „Albatross“.

„As tears go by“ je jedna od prvih pesama koju su zajedno napisali Mick Jagger i Keith Richards. Kao autor ove pesme potpisan je i Andrew Loog Oldham, loji je bio menadžer grupe The Rolling Stones i producent ploča snimljenih na početku njihove karijere 1963-1967. Ipak, nisu je popularni Stonsi prvi snimili.

Oldham je u to vreme postao menadžer osamnaestogodišnje Marianne Faithfull, kojoj je ponudio da snimi ovu pesmu. „As tears go by“ je prvo objavljena na singlu sredinom 1964. i postala je veliki hit. Godinu dana kasnije našla se i kao prva pesma na B strani na debi albumu koji je Marianne Faithfull objavila i koji je jednostavno nazvan njenim imenom.

The Rolling Stones snimili su ovu pesmu na albumu „December’s children (And everybody’s)“  koji je objavljen u Americi 4. decembra 1965. Nekoliko dana kasnije pojavljuje se i singl na američkom kontinentu, da bi u Engleskoj bio objavljen februara sledeće godine.

Predivna pesma jednog od najboljih kompozitorskih tandema u istoriji rok muzike, koja je, eto, imala malo čudan tok objavljivanja na vinilu sredinom šezdesetih godina prošlog veka.

„Shining light“ je pesma koju je komponovao Tim Wheeler, gitarista i pevač grupe Ash. Objavljena je prvo kao singl ove grupe, da bi se nekoliko meseci kasnije našla na njihovom odličnom albumu „Free all angels“, koji je objavljen 2001. godine.

Annie Lennox je snimila obradu ovu pesme osam godina kasnije. To je uradila na savršen način. Nalazi se na njenom albumu „The Annie Lennox collection“, kao jedna od dve nove pesme koje su našle mesto na ovom izdanju.

„Isolation“ je pesma koja se nalazi na albumu „John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band“, objavljenom 1970. godine. U snimanju su pored Lennon-a (vokal i klavir) učestvovali Klaus Voormann (bas) i Ringo Starr (bubnjevi).

Mnogi muzičari su obradili ovu Lennon-ovu pesmu. Među njima su Joe Cocker, Snow Patrol, Mercury Rev, Ann Wilson, Matthew Sweet, Harry Nilsson…

Jeff Beck i Johnny Depp izvodili su je na koncertima tokom jeseni prošle godine a pre nekoliko dana su je i zvanično snimili. Razlog svi znamo.

„Time in a bottle“ napisao je Jim Croce. Nalazi se na njegovom albumu „You don’t mess around with Jim“ objavljenom 1972. godine. Predivna pesma nastala u momentu kada je saznao da mu je supruga trudna.

Nažalost, Jim Croce je poginuo u avionskoj nesreći sledeće godine. Izdavačka kuća koja je objavila pomenuti album, nije imala nameru da pesmu izda kao singl. I kako se to neretko dešava, uradila je to dva meseca nakon tog tragičnog događaja.

Prvi album grupe Velvet Underground „Velvet Underground and Nico“ izdat je 1967. godine. Na njemu se kao treća pesma na B strani ploče, nalazi predivna „I’ll be your mirror“. Komponovao je Lou Reed i posvetio pevačici grupe Nico. Iako je njeno trajanje samo dva minuta, postala je nezaobilazna muzička lektira. Pesma za sva vremena.

„Here to love“ je pesma koju je napisao Lenny Kravitz. Nalazi se na njegovom poslednjem izdatom albumu „Raise vibration“ iz 2018. godine. Sjajna balada u kojoj je klavir dominantan instrument, otpevana sa jakom tekstualnom porukom uz pomoć mešovitog hora od dvanaest članova.

Ovogodišnja turneja koju Lenny Kravitz počinje poslednjeg dana marta na Novom Zelandu,  nazvana je po ovoj pesmi.

Snowy White je snimio bluz sa istim naslovom kao i Gary Moore šest godina ranije. Obojica su autori svojih pesama. Odlučio sam se ipak da ovoga puta predstavim onu „manje popularnu“, ali ne i nepoznatu.

„Midnight blues“ se nalazi na albumu „No faith required“ koji se pojavio 1996. godine. Snimio ga je Snowy White (gitara i vokal) sa svojom pratećom grupom The White Flames. Bilo bi nepravedno da ne navedem članove grupe koji su sjajno odsvirali ovaj neverovatan bluz u trajanju od 8 minuta i 30 sekundi. To su Walter Latupeirissa (akustična gitara), Kuma Harada (bas gitara), Juan Van Emmerloot (bubnjevi) i John ‘Rabbit’ Bundrick (orgulje).

To je, kako mu i samo ime kaže, baš pravi ponoćni bluz. I kada ću da ga slušam i pišem o njemu, ako ne u ovim satima kada je novi dan počeo zamenivši stari. Vokal me u nekim trenucima podseća na Peter Green-a, a zvuk gitare na David Gilmour-a. Možda i grešim, ali meni se tako čini. To ne smatram kao manu, naprotiv. Mislim da je to samo doprinelo sjajnom utisku koji imate dok slušate „Midnight blues“, za koji sam već rekao da je neverovatan.

The Stranglers su svoj deveti studijski album „Dreamtime“ objavili 1986. godine. „Always the Sun“ je prva pesma na ovom izdanju. Komponovali su je svi članovi grupe.

Ne znam ni sam koliko sam je puta emitovao u emisijama koje radim na radiju. Da li zato što sam to baš hteo, ili nekim povodom, ili što sam smatrao da je baš ona prava da ilustruje priču voditelja… Ne znam ni sam. Jedino što mogu da priznam je da ću to činiti još mnooogo puta.
