Lou Reed je svakako jedan od najznačajnijih muziča u svetu rok muzike. Sa grupom The Velvet Underground snimio je četiri antologijska albuma. Napisao je sve pesme, samo je u šest bio koautor. Napušta grupu 1970. godine i započinje uspešnu solo karijeru. Objavio je dvadeset samostalnih studijskih albuma. Mnoge njegove pesme uvršćene su u raznim anketama muzičkih časopisa, među najbolje u istoriji rok muzike. Zato nije ni čudo što poznati muzičari obrađuju njegove pesme. Do sada se pojavilo nekoliko tzv. tribute albuma na kojima se nalaze pesme za koje je Lou Reed napisao i muziku i tekst. Poslednji je objavljen 20. aprila ove godine.

„The power of the heart: A tribute to Lou Reed“ je kompilacija na kojoj se nalazi dvanaest pesama. „I’m waiting for the man“ ima tu čast da bude prva na ovom izdanju. To je jedina koju u originalu izvodi The Velvet Underground. Ostalih jedanaest su obrade pesama koje je Reed snimio na osam različitih albuma u periodu 1972-1992.

Poznati muzičari su, svako na svoj način, odlično obradili pesme koje je Lou Reed napisao. Jedina zamerka (ovo je sasvim lično) odnosi se na to što nema nijedne pesme sa meni omiljenog albuma „New York“ 😦

„Starman – Rare and exclusive versions of 18 classics David Bowie songs“ je tribute kompilacija objavljena 2003. godine.

Na njoj se nalazi osamnaest pesama nastalih u periodu od 1967. („The gospel according to Tony Day“) do  1979. godine  („Boys keep swinging“). David Bowie je kompletan autor trinaest pesama, dok se u preostalih pet pored njega kao koautori pojavljuju Iggy Pop („Fall in love with me“, „Funtime“), Brian Eno („Heroes“, „Boys keep swinging“) i Carlos Alomar i John Lennon („Fame“).

Ono što je karakteristično za ovu kolekciju je da se na njoj nalaze tri pesme koje David Bowie nije prvi snimio nego su to uradili i objavili drugi izvođači. Iggy Pop je „Funtime“ objavio na svom albumu „The idiot“ a „Fall in love with me“ na „Lust for life“. Oba albuma su realizovana 1977. godine. Mott the Hoople su objavili singl sa pesmom „All the young dudes“ 1972. godine.

„Female tribute to Tom Waits“ pojavio se 2008. godine. Izdat je kao dvostruki CD i na svakom se nalazi po dvadeset pesama. Sjajni i raznovrsni ženski vokali otpevali su 34 pasme (šest su objavljene u dve verzije) koje je napisao i originalno snimio Tom Waits. Diana Krall, Cat Power, Aileen Loy & Blue Valentines, Astrid Seriese i Holly Cole imale su tu čast da budu zastupljene sa po dve pesme na ovom izdanju. Odličan Tribute album, na kome mnoge pesme zvuče mnogo bolje nego u originalnom izvođenju.

„The songs of Leonard Cohen covered“ je album koji je objavio časopis Mojo u svom martovskom broju 2012. godine. Na njemu je petnaest izvođača snimilo pesme koje je napisao Leonard Cohen.

Prvih deset pesama su obrade kompletnog prvog albuma „Songs of Leonard Cohen“ izdatog 1967. godine. Pet pesama je dodato kao bonus. Drugi album „Songs from a room“ (1969) je na ovom izdanju zastupljen sa dve a treći „Songs of love and hate“ (1971) sa tri obrade.

Ovoga meseca trebalo bi da se pojavi novi album, kao posthumno izdanje, koji je snimio Leonard Cohen. Iskreno, nisam baš neki ljubitelj takvih poteza diskografskih kuća. Mislim da u ovom trenutku ne bi bilo korektno da predstavim jedan od njegovih ranije izdatih studijskih albuma, dok očekujemo pesme koje ćemo tek čuti po prvi put. Zato sam se odlučio za jedno od mnogih Tribute izdanja posvećenog ovom sjajnom pesniku i muzičaru.

Prethodni album u kategoriji Tribute bio je posvećen legendarnim čupavcima iz Liverpula. Zato sam današnje predstavljanje posvetio, a kome drugom, nego njihovim velikim muzičkim „rivalima“. I da sve bude pošteno tj. isto kao prošli put, odabrao sam ponovo bluz.

„Songs of Rolling Stones – All blues’d up“ je kompilacija na kojoj su obrađene pesme grupe Rolling Stones. Sve pesme na albumu napisali su Mick Jagger i Keith Richards osim jedne („It’s all over now“), koju su komponovali Bobby i Shirley Womack. Velikani bluz muzike obradili su pesme „najveće rock’n’roll grupe“ na njima svojstven način.

Pesme grupe The Beatles sigurno imaju najviše obrada. Bio sam na „slatkim mukama“ koji album odabrati u kategoriji Tribute posvećen njima. Izbor je na kraju pao na bluz.

„Beatles blues: The blues meets the Beatles“ je samo jedan od mnogobrojnih albuma na kome su obrađene pesme čuvene četvorke iz Liverpula. Pojavio se 2001. godine. Od sedamnaest pesama, tri obrade su instrumentali.

Posle prvog albuma u kategoriji Tribute na ovom blogu, evo i drugog koji je posvećen još jednom poznatom kompozitoru dvadesetog veka.

„Red, hot + blue“ sadrži dvadeset pesama koje je komponovao Cole Porter. On je ujedno i autor svih tekstova za ove pesme. Ovo izdanje se pojavilo 1990. godine kao dupli album (na svakoj strani ploče se nalazi po pet pesama) i kao dvostruki cd. Dvadeset dva različita izvođača (dve pesme izvode dueti) dali su svoj doprinos obradivši dobro poznate pesme, od koji se većina danas smatra džez standardima.

Album „The glory of Gershwin“ snimljen je 1994. godine. Mnogi poznati umetnici učestvovali su na realizaciji ovog albuma, snimivši osamnaest  kompozicija koje je komponovao George Gershwin, jedan od najvećih kompozitora 20. veka. Obradili su ih u džez, rok, pop i bluz maniru. Larry Adler je svirao harmoniku u svim pesmama. Producent ovog izdanja je čuveni George Martin.
